Grill For Good

The Reason

In 2022, we were inspired by Kamado Joe consumers for all the good they do year after year. This inspired us to look inward and figure out how we can help support those who continue to give back to their communities. This sparked the idea for "Grill for Good", a giveaway where people can nominate themselves or someone, they know who deserves a free grill for what they do and can do with the grill for their community.

My wife Jenn is continuously helping those in all of the communities in which she is active. She saw a need for people to have access to food without having to go to a food pantry, so she went about and was able to have a Food Pantry built on the side of our house. This is now used by our neighborhood and the surrounding communities. She makes sure that there is always food available but not only that she makes sure that the available food can be opened easily. She told me once "if you can't buy food why would have a can opener?" So now most of the canned items we get have a pop top so there is no other obstacle for those in need to face. Jenn not only helps in the community in which she lives but also in her school community. For years I watched as she bought cases of hygiene products snacks and "food for the weekend" for her students. Last year with the help of another organization she was able to create a Care Closet for her school that is stocked with hygiene products shirts snacks. and most importantly "food for the weekend". I have never seen her prouder of being able to give back than when she was able to open the closet for the students. As she puts it "Kids shouldn't have to worry about that stuff at school and they need to know that we care about them as a person and not just as a student." Seeing Jenn give back to the community is such a rewarding experience. She truly gets joy out of helping others. She has inspired our children to help in all of her endeavors and has ingrained in them and me a desire to do more. Jenn's favorite words are "If you can help you should" That is what she lives by and that is why I am nominating her for this.
