Crispy crust, melty cheese and a spooky twist make these Mummy Pizzas the perfect Halloween cook. Built for the Kamado Joe, these individual pizzas use a preheated Ceramic Pizza Stone for a crisp, evenly cooked crust and a Pizza Peel for easy transfer from prep surface to grill.
Instructions
-
01
Prepare the Kamado Joe: Set up for indirect cooking and preheat to 400–450°F. Place the Ceramic Pizza Stone on the cooking grate and preheat for 20–30 minutes.
-
02
Prepare the Pizza Dough Divide the dough into four equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, stretch each portion into a 6–8-inch round, leaving the edges slightly thicker. Dust the Kamado Joe Pizza Peel with a light layer of flour or cornmeal and place the dough on top.
-
03
Create the Mummies Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over each crust, leaving about ½ inch around the edge. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and crushed red pepper, if using. Arrange the mozzarella strips across each pizza in overlapping, irregular lines to create the look of mummy bandages. Leave small gaps between the strips so the sauce shows through. Add two sliced black olives toward the upper portion of each pizza to create the eyes. For the best mummy effect, vary the direction and length of the cheese strips rather than lining them up evenly.

04
Transfer to the Pizza Stone Use the Pizza Peel to carefully slide each pizza onto the preheated Ceramic Pizza Stone. Close the Kamado Joe lid and cook for 8–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crisp and the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Rotate the pizza halfway through cooking if needed for even browning.

05
Serve Use the Pizza Peel to remove the finished pizza from the stone. Let cool for 1–2 minutes before slicing. Finish with fresh basil and Parmesan, if desired, and serve warm.
