From The Netherlands to Ontario—A Fire-Driven BBQ Journey

Born and raised in The Netherlands. I started traveling for work on a young age. Eleven years ago I stepped on Canadian soil for the first time. Six years after that I decided to move to Canada where I live now in Southern Ontario. I always had love for BBQ and with over 6 BBQ’s in my backyard the love is still growing.

Kamado Joe Questions et réponses avec Mitchell van Deelen

What inspired you to start barbecuing? How long have you been doing it? Tell us how you got started!
I’ve been taking over my friends grills since I can remember haha. The first time you eat something from the grill you taste that it’s so much better than from a stove. That’s when my love started for it!
What advice would you give to someone new to grilling? do you have any advice for a new content creator in the BBQ space?
Don’t be afraid to fail! Just try new stuff out and new techniques. Behind every successful dish there are tons of mistakes, different ways to do it, to perfect it.
What is your favorite grilling technique that you've learned and why?
I feel every technique has his own purpose. As I do leave a hot seared steak I also love the process it takes to make pulled beef for example.
What is your favorite recipe?
Burgers and sandwiches
