True Charcoal Taste.
There's nothing like a sizzling mouth-watering steak infused with the flavor of charcoal. That authentic taste is why so many grillers are moving to Kamado Joe. Our 100% Natural Lump Charcoal is made of hardwoods like oak, hickory and maple. It burns cleaner, hotter and longer than other brands. It can even be relit for multiple cookings—you can't do that with gas or briquette charcoal.

Choose the Grill That's Right for You.
We consider anyone who grills or smokes outdoors to be a fellow griller. Sure, we'd love for you to use a Kamado Joe grill, but we understand that you chose your grill for a reason. When you're ready to buy a new grill,
we've put together a side-by-side comparison of the three most popular grilling methods. In the end, we want you to Choose the Grill That's Right for You.

Kamado Joe Overview
The Kamado Joe Company, Inc. is a Georgia corporation focused on the design, manufacture and sale of ceramic outdoor grills. Kamado Joe is a superior alternative to typical barbecue grill such as gas grills, metal charcoal grills and other kamado grills. Kamado Joe offers unmatched cooking flexibility, aesthetic design and higher grade materials at a cost-competitive price.

Superior Design
Kamado grills are gaining popularity in the United States and for good reason. Kamado grills have an advantage over gas grills and briquette charcoal grills. They have the ability to sustain low temperatures for long periods of time and reach temperatures above 750°F for searing; to trap the natural oils and moisture of meat. Kamado grills also add a noticeably better flavor to food by using natural lump charcoal as a heat source.

Kamado Joe surpasses other Kamado grills by using higher grade materials for its components. According to Bobby Brennan, Founder and President of Kamado Joe, “Having used other Kamado gills, I decided to build a grill that met my expectations...I just find it hard to take shortcuts.”

The thick handle and side shelves are made of finished bamboo for its weather and mildew-resistant properties; similar to teak. 304 stainless steel is used for the draft door, hardware and grilling grate. Competitors typically use unfinished cypress and standard grade steel, which is why many grills look weathered and rusty after just a few years. Other distinct upgrades include an extra-large exterior thermometer with cooking ranges imprinted on the face and locking cart wheels for stability.

Competitive Pricing
Kamado Joe’s pricing is comparable to upper level gas grills and lower than the top two competitors in the Kamado grill market with an MSRP of $799. On pricing, Brennan stated, “ I set an attractive price point to gain a niche in the barbecue grill market. Anyone who is interested in purchasing a barbecue grill should compare the flexibility, design and cost of Kamado Joe against everyone else.”

Taste, Sustainability and Practicality
Beyond the price, Kamado Joe grills use natural lump charcoal. The charcoal is made from hardwoods such as oak, hickory and maple that can be reharvested through coppicing; cutting a tree to allow for regrowth. Natural lump charcoal gives the food a clean smoky flavor similar to an open camp fire, and it can be relit for multiple cooking, so the cost per use is lower than that of gas or briquette charcoal.
